A Behind-the-Scenes Branding Photoshoot for a Small Business in Devon
There’s something incredibly special about stepping behind the counter of a small business — seeing the hands, passion, and process behind the finished product. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Yield Bakery, a small local bakery whose dedication and artistry are baked (quite literally) into everything they create.
When I arrived at their bakery unit, I was immediately met with the warm scent of fresh pastries and the hum of a team in motion. This is where all the magic happens — where dough is carefully shaped, fillings are perfected, and every pastry and cake is made with the kind of attention that only comes from genuine love for the craft.
My goal for this branding photoshoot was to document the essence of their business: the rhythm of their daily work, the teamwork between the owner and her talented bakers, and the beauty found in all the small, messy, real moments. From flour-dusted worktops to trays of golden pastries coming fresh out of the oven, every frame told a story of skill and care.
Later, I visited their new shop, a beautiful, inviting space designed for their customers to slow down, enjoy a coffee, and savour their creations. Photographing the staff in their new setting was the perfect way to tie together the full journey — from behind-the-scenes prep to the front-of-house experience that customers enjoy every day.
What stood out most to me was how much pride and effort goes into every aspect of what Yield Bakery offers. It’s a reminder that small businesses — whether bakers, florists, designers, or makers — all share a similar heartbeat: passion, perseverance, and the drive to bring something meaningful to their community.
