Motherhood Photoshoot at Home | Published in Fab Daily - The Sun UK
There are certain sessions that stay with you — not just because of the images created, but because of the story behind them. This motherhood portrait session was one of those.
I was commissioned by Fabulous Daily, part of The Sun, to photograph Danielle Spink and her newborn baby, Marcus, for a feature sharing her personal postnatal journey. You can read the full article here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/38553717/fat-jabs-four-weeks-after-birth-haters/
I recently had the honour of being commissioned by Fabulous Daily, part of The Sun, to photograph a deeply personal motherhood story — capturing Danielle Spink and her newborn baby, Marcus, in the early weeks after birth.
This editorial motherhood photoshoot was created to accompany Danielle’s feature, sharing her postnatal journey. You can read the full article here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/38553717/fat-jabs-four-weeks-after-birth-haters/
An At-Home Motherhood Photoshoot
The session took place in Danielle’s home, allowing us to create images that felt calm, intimate, and authentic.
Choosing an at-home setting for a newborn or motherhood photoshoot brings a different energy to the experience. It allows space for real moments — feeding, settling, holding your baby close — without the pressure of an unfamiliar environment.
For Danielle, this meant she could fully relax into the session while staying close to everything she and baby Marcus needed.
A Fully Styled Portrait Experience
This wasn’t just a simple photoshoot — it was a fully styled editorial experience.
Across the session, we created four different looks, each carefully considered to bring variety while maintaining a soft, cohesive feel. From relaxed, natural moments to more refined portraits, every setup reflected a different layer of early motherhood.
Supporting the session was an incredible creative team:
Hair & Makeup: Laoise McGinn
Styling: Roberta Juxton Keen
Professional hair and makeup allowed Danielle to feel confident and looked after, while styling elevated each image without taking away from the emotional connection at the heart of the session.
Why Motherhood Photography Matters
Those early weeks with a newborn are often a blur — emotional, beautiful, and fleeting all at once.
A motherhood photoshoot like this isn’t about perfection. It’s about documenting connection. The way your baby fits in your arms. The quiet moments you don’t realise you’ll miss.
This session was a reminder that even in the most ordinary settings — your home, your everyday — there is so much beauty worth capturing.
