Recently, I had the privilege of assisting my sister with her maternity photoshoot on the picturesque beach of Plymouth, Devon. This blog takes you on a journey through that breathtaking session, highlighting the stunning beach setting, the emotions of the expectant mother, and the incredible results we achieved amidst windy conditions and a rising tide!

The choice to have the photoshoot on the beach at sunset added an ethereal touch, accentuating the natural beauty of the surroundings. The rhythmic crashing of the waves and the golden hues of the setting sun added a touch of romance and warmth to every frame, making this an unforgettable location for such a meaningful session.
To make sure everything was perfect, careful planning and attention to detail are essential with any of my photoshoots. The first to-do was to get my team in for hair and makeup to enhance the expectant mother's natural beauty while keeping the look camera-friendly. The aim was to strike a balance between a natural appearance and ensuring that she looked her best for the photoshoot.
"The hair and make up Emma looked for, were both professional and the styling was something I could have never done myself but she knew they would suit the images we wanted. We had 5 outfit changes in under 2 hours!"
Despite the wind picking up speed and the tide steadily approaching, we persevered, determined to create an unforgettable collection of images. The goal was to capture the raw emotions and connection between the soon-to-be mum, as well as showcase the beauty of the growing bump. With a two-hour window, we had to be efficient with time while allowing for outfit changes and ensuring mum-to-be was comfortable.
Between Sarah and myself we had carefully curated five outfits that showcased her personal style and highlighted her changing body. From flowing maternity gowns that accentuated her silhouette to casual beachwear, each outfit beautifully complemented the natural surroundings. The 'gentle' breeze added a touch of movement, creating a sense of freedom and grace in each captured moment.
The sunset provided the perfect lighting, casting a soft, warm glow on the mum-to-be, creating a dreamlike atmosphere in each frame.
